The City of Casey is proud to highlight key achievements from 2025 as we continue to build on our community vision to be a connected, innovative and resilient community. Across major infrastructure, community wellbeing, economic development and environmental initiatives, Council has delivered meaningful progress aligned with our long-term strategic priorities.
City of Casey Mayor Stefan Koomen says "2025 has been a year of significant progress for our city. From expanding local jobs opportunities and delivering major community infrastructure to supporting our vulnerable residents and improving our natural environment, we are continuing to strengthen our city to be a great place to live, work and play.
I'm incredibly proud of what we have achieved together, and excited for the opportunities ahead as we continue to serve our growing community."
This year saw the successful endorsement of the updated Local Law, making them clearer, fairer, and more practical, balancing resident rights and wellbeing with community amenity and safety.
Planning for the Cranbourne Community Hub is a step closer to starting construction. When finished this contemporary, accessible centre will proudly serve residents of Cranbourne for many years to come.
Council continues its work on improving and upgrading the recreational spaces across the city including, reviewing the Doveton Pool in the Park masterplan, opening a new pavilion at Strathaird Reserve in Narre Warren South, adding fitness equipment and refreshing the basketball courts at Blind Bight and construction work well underway at Springleaf Recreation Reserve in Clyde North.
Our environmental commitment was evident through one of Casey's largest tree-planting programs, expanding canopy coverage across Casey. We also launched the Climate Action Living Lab, partnering with local organisations to trial innovative sustainability and biodiversity projects that protect and enhance native habitat and species.
Economically, Casey strengthened its reputation as a hub for innovation and employment. Major employers - including Amazon, continued to grow their presence in the region, contributing to hundreds of new local jobs.
Casey's reputation as a destination was cemented with the Federal Government committing $10.68 million in funding towards a Mini-Stadium and Women's Centre for Excellence at Casey Fields in Cranbourne East. The new facility will not only support sporting opportunities for women and girls but will attract national-level sport and tourism opportunities for Casey.
During the year, Council progressed Precinct Structure Plans for major growth areas including Croskell and Casey Fields South and Devon Meadows with the Victorian Government and consulted the community on the draft Berwick Village Major Activity Centre Structure Plan. These plans will ensure our future communities are well design and support housing, jobs, infrastructure, and local centre revitalisation.
While supporting community wellbeing remained a core priority, with Council expanding initiatives and support to enhance food security. Throughout the year we delivered $138,000 in grants to community groups on the front line of this work and awarded a $200,000 grant per annum for two years to support Transit Soup Kitchen and Food Support.
The achievements of 2025 reflect our commitment to building a thriving city and strong communities, we look forward to building on this momentum next year and working together to shape the City of Casey.
