Dementia Australia support in Bundaberg and Hervey Bay

Are you concerned about your memory or worried someone you know may have dementia? Dementia Australia is offering support in Bundaberg and Hervey Bay between 28 February and 3 March 2022.

There are an estimated 94,000 people living with dementia in Queensland. Without a medical breakthrough, this number is expected to increase to an estimated 207,000 people by 2058.

The Dementia Australia courses are an opportunity for people living with dementia, their carers, family, and friends to attend free education and discuss the support and services Dementia Australia can provide. Please note, bookings are essential.

Events and education sessions include:

Younger Onset Dementia This session provides information specific to younger people diagnosed with dementia and their carers, exploring the unique impacts of younger onset dementia.

Worried About Your Memory? This session provides information on memory and common changes that may occur with ageing.

Grief, Loss and Dementia This session is an overview of the grief, loss and emotional impact of the changes caused by dementia.

Introduction to Dementia This session is an introduction to dementia, including an overview of different types of dementia, diagnosis, planning ahead and how to support someone living with dementia.

Communication and Dementia This session provides information on dementia, the way we communicate and how changes in communication can occur as a result of dementia.

Carer Gateway – Information Session This session provides information for families and carers on how to access free dementia specific services including counselling, coaching, connecting with other carers, practical assistance, planned and emergency respite.
