Deprivation of liberty in Woodridge, QLD

Detectives from the Logan District Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man with deprivation of liberty and choking following an incident in Woodridge on Sunday night, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged at around 8pm a man assaulted a woman, who was known to him, at an address on Kolonga Street before putting the woman in a car and refusing to let her leave.

The 31-year-old woman then fled to a neighbouring house and contacted police before being transported to hospital for observation.

Police responded and conducted patrols of the area, taking a man into custody nearby.

A 37-year-old Woodridge man has been charged with one count each of choking in a domestic relationship, assault occasioning bodily harm, deprivation of liberty and using a carriage service to menace and harass.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates court on May 31.
