Detectives from the Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) have arrested and charged two more men in relation to a violent home invasion in September last year, taking the total number of people arrested in relation to the incident to three.
Police allege that five male offenders entered an address on Sidney Court in Shepparton shortly after 9.20pm on Friday 2 September 2022. Two male residents were assaulted and airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital, including:
• A 33-year-old male resident who received a life-threatening stab wound to the leg and remained in a coma for five weeks.
• Another 33-year-old male resident who received multiple injuries to the head and upper body.
With assistance from Brimbank CIU, Shepparton detectives executed four search warrants at residential addresses in Sunshine and Shepparton this week, which led to the arrests of two men including:
• An 18-year-old Keilor Downs man was arrested on Tuesday 7 February 2023 and charged with aggravated home invasion, causing serious injury intentionally in circumstances of gross violence, intentionally cause serious injury and intentionally cause injury. He was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on 2 May, 2023.
• A 22-year-old Shepparton man was arrested on 8 February 2023 and charged with aggravated home invasion, causing serious injury intentionally in circumstances of gross violence, intentionally cause serious injury and intentionally cause injury. He was remanded to appear at the Shepparton Magistrates Court on 9 February 2023.
• During the search warrants, police also seized a black Audi A6 sedan allegedly linked to the incident.
This week's arrests come after Shepparton detectives arrested a 19-year-old Geelong West man last week in relation to the incident. The man will be charged on summons.
The string of arrests follows the recent release of CCTV vision and a computer-generated facial image, which prompted several information reports from the public and witnesses on the evening.
