Detectives investigate attempted carjacking - Cheltenham

Detectives from Southern Metro Regional Crime Team are appealing for public assistance following an attempted carjacking which occurred in Cheltenham earlier this month.

Investigators have been told a 70-year-old man was with his vehicle, which had stopped in the service lane of the Nepean Highway, about 8.30pm on 7 June 2022.

As he was waiting for assistance two men in a dark coloured SUV stopped and approached him.

It's alleged one of the men demanded the victim's keys and assaulted him when he refused.

The two men then returned to their vehicle and drove off.

Investigators believe the SUV may have been seen driving erratically in the area prior to the incident and may have been travelling in the wrong direction along the Nepean Highway service lane between Station Road and Page Street.

Anyone who witnessed any of these incidents, has information or dashcam is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.auExternal Link
