Liverpool City Council has launched a development program to equip small businesses with tools to ensure they are agile and responsive during this challenging climate.
"The Business Resilience Development Program is the latest in a range of measures Council has introduced to support businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and keep people in jobs," Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.
"The eight-week program will help businesses to develop strategies to enhance their resilience as well as form new networks with other local businesses."
The program will include four online workshops focused on how to plan, pivot and prosper; one-on-one mentoring sessions; and allow participating businesses to keep connected and share insights through an online platform.
"The new development program expands on our Business Resilience Grant initiative, which provided $172,000 to 50 small businesses in the Liverpool area to help them pivot their operating model or improve their online strategy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic," Mayor Waller said.
"Council has also amended hardship provisions for rate payments, given rent abatements to many Council tenants, established a 'Support Local' campaign and helped businesses strengthen their online presence through a workshop series.
"While we are doing all that we can to support businesses in the Liverpool area, I wish to remind members of the community to do their bit by shopping and eating locally."
The Business Resilience Development Program is only open to businesses registered and/or located in the Liverpool Local Government Area.
Small businesses wanting to participate in the program must complete an Expression of Interest by 5pm, Friday 24 July. The program will run from 3 August – 30 September 2020.
