Disqualified driver crashes at Edwardstown, South Australia

A disqualified driver was arrested after allegedly failing to stop for police and crashing his car at Edwardstown this morning.

Police spotted the Peugeot on South Road, Edwardstown just before midday on Tuesday 12 April. The driver took off at speed, but was not pursued, and almost immediately crashed into a Stobie pole on Dunorlan Road, Edwardstown. Witnesses saw him running off into a nearby house.

The 25-year-old Edwardstown man was subsequently arrested without incident and charged with failing to stop, aggravated driving without due care, driving disqualified, driving contrary to defect and leaving the scene of a crash.

He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 17 May.

The vehicle was towed and impounded.
