A new year brings new routines and goals and, for Darwin dog owners, a new opportunity to build stronger relationships with their pets.
The City of Darwin continues to partner with Pawsitive K9 Behaviour to deliver a free series of dog behaviour workshops throughout the year.
The workshops are designed to help residents better understand their dog's behaviour, address common nuisance issues and build calmer, safer and happier relationships with their pets.
The first workshop, Barking Matters, will take place on Tuesday 10 February and teaches owners about barking behaviours and information on how to prevent and correct the behaviour.
Lord Mayor Peter Styles said the new year was an ideal time for dog owners to reset routines and set their pets up for success.
"These workshops give owners practical advice to help their dogs feel calmer and more confident, while also supporting a safe and welcoming environment for the whole community," Mr Styles said.
"Pets bring companionship and can improve our quality of life, and with that comes a shared responsibility to follow local regulations and look out for the wellbeing of both our animals and the wider community."
More workshops will be delivered throughout the year, each focusing on different aspects of dog behaviour, training and wellbeing.
