The Northern Territory Police Force is calling for information following a domestic violence related assault that occurred in Alice Springs yesterday.
Around 11:45am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report of an assault that had occurred at a service station on Wills Terrace.
It is alleged an 18-year-old male physically assaulted his female partner, including assaulting her with a window washing brush, causing her to seek refuge inside the service centre with staff.
Members from Strike Force Viper, the Dog Operations Unit and general duties attended, however the offender fled the scene in a holden Commodore. Tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed on the vehicle as it travelled south on the Stuart Highway, and a police pursuit was initiated but terminated for safety concerns near Anderson Road.
The vehicle was located abandoned 5km north of Stuarts Well and the offender remains outstanding.
The victim was conveyed to the Alice Springs Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
