DRAFT Community Strategic Plan on Public Exhibition

Leeton Shire Council

The DRAFT Leeton Shire Community Strategic Plan - Livable Leeton 2035 - is now available for review and comment.

The Community Strategic Plan (CSP), which is prepared by Council on behalf of the community, is based on community input and sets out:

• Where our Shire is at right now

• Where we want the Shire to be in 2035

• How we're going to get there

• Who may be able to help us get there

• How we will know we're on the right track and making progress.

Council's Executive Manager IPR, Governance and Engagement Kerrie-Anne Hare said Council carried out a lengthy community engagement process to seek input from the community about their aspirations for Leeton Shire and their ideas about how these aspirations could be achieved.

"The information gathered during the engagement, which took place during 2020-2022, fed into the development of the DRAFT Liveable Leeton 2035 CSP," she said.

"And now that we have a draft, we want to check back with the community to make sure we've got it right."

Although Liveable Leeton 2035 is a community plan, not a Council plan, it is a vital tool for the Council because it sets out the vision, goals, values and priorities of the community.

Council will use the CSP as a blueprint to guide its operations over the Council's term of office.

Ms Hare said it was important to be aware that while Council will have a big part to play in implementing the CSP, the CSP is a whole-of-community plan and other stakeholders - community groups, State and Federal government agencies, businesses, and even individuals - will also have a role.

"There are some things that are the responsibility of other levels of government or the community themselves, and we've got a much better chance of success if we all do our bit and work together to achieve the community's vision," she said.

"That means it's important for everyone to check to make sure they are comfortable with the direction outlined in the CSP."
