Drilling rig to begin investigation works along Harry Graham Drive - Wollongong

Wollongong City Council will begin work along Harry Graham Drive, Kembla Heights from Monday 26 October to investigate a significant soil slip in the road embankment near Brandy and Water Creek.

Earlier in the year, a section of embankment along Harry Graham Drive failed during heavy rainfall, resulting in a soil slip. As part of our plan to fix it, we need to complete a geotechnical investigation along the section of road reserve affected to determine the cause.

The geotechnical works will involve the use of a drill rig to take earth samples on the edges of the road. This work is anticipated to take up to one week to complete, depending on weather conditions.

Work hours on the site will be between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday and during this time drivers may experience some minor traffic delays as the road will be narrowed to one lane only to ensure safety. The road will be returned to two lane traffic outside of work hours.

If you plan to use Harry Graham Drive next week, make sure you schedule a little extra time into your travel journeys and please follow all traffic control directions.
