Drink-driving charge after crash - Tempe

A man has been charged with drink driving after a crash in inner-Sydney overnight.

About 11.10pm, emergency services were called to Bay Street, Tempe, following reports of a vehicle travelling at speed and conducting burnouts.

Upon arrival, officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command found a dark green BMW crashed into a parked white Renault Clio.

The driver, a 25-year-old man, and his male passenger were not injured.

The driver was arrested and underwent a roadside breath test that allegedly returned a positive result.

He was taken to Newtown Police Station where a subsequent breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.157.

He was charged with high range PCA and negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm).

The Rockdale man was granted conditional bail to appear in Newtown Local Court on Monday 16 October 2020.
