Drinking, speeding, crashing

A man has had his car immediately impounded and his licence suspended after allegedly drink driving at excessive speed and crashing into several vehicles.

Police were initially called to reports of a Volkswagen Amarok being driven erratically and side swiping at least two vehicles on the Princes Highway at Tynong.

Officers then observed the vehicle travelling in excess of 150km/h in an 80km/h zone on the Princes Highway at Warragul.

The vehicle was intercepted on Crole Drive and after a positive roadside breath test the driver returned an evidentiary breath test of 0.155, more than three times the legal limit.

The 26-year-old Warragul man had his license immediately suspended and his vehicle was impounded.

He is expected to be charged with multiple driving offences on summons.
