A Tasmanian man has had his licence disqualified after being caught speeding by more than 50km/h in a traffic operation at Tullah yesterday.
The operation, run in conjunction with Transport Safety, was focused on fatal five traffic offences (speeding, drugs and alcohol, seatbelts, inattention) and vehicle and licence checks.
Ten motorists were caught speeding more than 15km/h, and eight vehicles were found to have defects.
The man who was caught speeding at 103km/h in a 50km/h zone has been fined more than $1,000, given six demerit points and faces a four-month licence suspension.
Sergeant Danny Jackson from Strahan Police said it was disappointing to see this type of driving behaviour continuing in the face of ongoing public messaging.
"The motoring public can be assured police will continue to maintain a high presence on west coast roads during the holiday season, particularly targeting those fatal five offences," he said.
