Driver Five Times Over Limit Flees Mount Martha Crash

A man has allegedly blown more than five times the legal alcohol limit following a collision in Mount Martha last night.

Police were called to the intersection of Moorooduc Highway and Males Road following reports of a minor two-car collision just before 5pm.

Police located the driver of a Nissan Navara and the 41-year-old underwent a preliminary breath test which returned a positive result.

The Bittern man then returned a positive evidentiary breath test roadside with an alleged reading of 0.269.

He was issued an immediate licence suspension for 12 months and has been charged on summons with exceeding the prescribed content of alcohol whilst driving, driving under the influence and careless driving.

His car was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1304.75.
