Drug lab located, Tarragindi

Detectives from the Synthetic Drug Operations Unit have charged a 51-year-old man after a clandestine drug lab was located at Tarragindi.

Following extensive investigations a search warrant was executed at a Tarragindi home on Saturday, July 29.

It will be alleged a trap-door was located in the living room, which lead to a drug lab hidden in the property's garage.

Based on the items and chemicals located, it will be alleged the lab was used to produce methylamphetamine and psilocybin (magic mushrooms).

A 51-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene and charged with possessing dangerous drugs and possession of drug utensils.

He is expected to appear before Holland Park Magistrates Court today, August 2.

Drug and Serious Crime Group Detective Inspector Bradley Phelps said the conditions of this drug lab shine a light on the dangerous chemicals used, and conditions the substances are produced in.

"It raises significant health concerns not only for the alleged offender, but for innocent neighbours, and vulnerable members of our community who may end up using these drugs down the track," Detective Inspector Phelps said.

"This arrest is another example of the dedicated work underway to take these dangerous and highly-addictive drugs off our streets, and keep the community safe."

Investigations remain ongoing.
