Elderly man dies a week after being struck by a car - Riverina

An elderly man has died after being hit by a car in the state's Riverina last week.

About 5.50pm Thursday 17 June 2021, police were called to Bourke Street, Tolland, after reports a Mitsubishi Triton had hit a pedestrian.

Officers from Riverina Police District attended and commenced inquiries.

An 83-year-old man suffered a fractured pelvis and facial injuries and was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.

He was later transferred to St George Hospital where he died just after 5pm yesterday (Thursday 24 June 2021).

The driver of the ute, a 35-year-old man, was not injured and was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Two passengers, men aged 23 and 19, also escaped injury.

Investigations are continuing.
