Emergency Crews Tackle Morley's Russell Street Park Fire

Strike Force Vulcan officers commenced an investigation into a fire in the Russell Street Park in Morley that occurred about 5pm, on New Year's Day, Monday 1 January 2024.

Unknown offenders set alight a packet of sparklers in the park causing the bushland to catch fire. The fire quickly spread throughout the park and damaged wooden fencing of a nearby property.

The Morley Bus Port which is situated opposite the park, was impacted by heavy smoke causing delays in bus services.

On Wednesday, 14 February 2024, two offenders were identified through the use of local police intelligence and the specialist knowledge of Strike Force Vulcan offices, and they were processed on the charge of Breach of Duty.
