Significant funding for significant impact
Here at ETC, we believe that community engagement is the cornerstone of positive change. Since the ETC Community Support Fund (CSF) started in 2012, we have invested over $3 million. This money has gone to local organisations that are making a real difference. In the past four years alone, we've contributed $2 million to support these vital community initiatives.
One of our key partners is the Teens Take Control program. This is a lively youth mentoring program on the Sunshine Coast.
Teens Take Control recently received a $30,000 boost from the ETC Community Support Fund. They have turned their space into a lively hub. It now has fitness, entertainment, and educational tools for local youth.
Extending a hand
Organisations like Teens Take Control are vital to the well-being of youth in our communities. By offering a hand to youth disengaged in education, we create a lifeline from going down dangerous paths.
A participant shared, "I feel like it's important because it's getting teens back on track. I wouldn't be at school at the moment, and probably getting in trouble."
Teens Take Control helps young people grow in many ways. It focuses on building self-confidence, improving education, and teaching practical skills. The program includes:
- Martial arts training
- Strength and fitness activities
- Educational support in numeracy and literacy
- Hands-on skills in carpentry, welding, mechanics, and music production
Founder Brenden Wilkins emphasizes, "We don't worry about how smart they are or what skills they've got; let's just make them good people. If they're good people, they can grow from there."
