Energy Upgrades Fund Hits 10,000 Installations

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

The Australian Government's $1 billion Household Energy Upgrades Fund ™ (HEUF) has now helped finance more than 10,000 energy upgrades to over 4,100 homes across Australia.

The program milestone was achieved in the quarter to December 2025.

The HEUF provides discounted finance products to help households upgrade their homes with modern energy-efficient appliances and other energy efficiency improvements. These upgrades include:

  • solar photovoltaic (PV) systems
  • batteries
  • insulation
  • double glazed windows
  • energy-efficient electric appliances.

The most popular upgrades under the HEUF have been batteries, inverters and solar PV modules.

Since the HEUF commenced in May 2024, we have committed over $400 million to participating lenders through the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC).

The lenders have committed a further $400 million, bringing total program investment to date to over $800 million.

There are now 7 participating lenders in the HEUF, with more expected to be announced in 2026 and beyond. These lenders are:

  • Plenti
  • Westpac
  • ING Australia
  • Bank Australia*
  • Commonwealth Bank of Australia
  • Brighte
  • Plico Energy

*The Bank Australia Renovate home loan program is currently paused.

The HEUF complements the Australian Government's Cheaper Home Batteries Program (CHBP), which commenced in July 2025. In the 6 months following the launch of the CHBP, total uptake of batteries, inverters and solar PV under the HEUF all roughly tripled.
