Escape Custody at Elliott

Northern Territory Police are currently working to locate a remanded prisoner who escaped from police custody before he was due to be transported to Tennant Creek yesterday.

Around 3:30pm, Earl Junior Foster, 23, escaped custody after causing a disturbance in the Elliott Police Station Watch House before knocking over, and forcing his way past 2 officers before fleeing the compound.

One officer suffered a laceration to his cheek and has been transported to Tennant Creek hospital for treatment.

Foster is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, medium build with brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black singlet, with the word "dreams" written across front and back, and black shorts.

Superintendent Mark Grieve said "Additional police resourcing has been deployed to Elliott from Tennant Creek to assist with investigations.

"Police believe Foster is not a risk to the public, however, if any member of the public sights him, do not approach, and please contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
