Evade police incident in Applecross - Arrest

Palmyra Police have charged a 22-year-old woman after an evade police incident that occurred yesterday, Sunday 5 May 2019.

About 12.05pm, police sighted a stolen white Toyota Corolla parked in the carpark of a fast food outlet located on the corner of Sleat Road and Canning Highway in Applecross. The Toyota Corolla had been reported stolen from a home in Kardinya on 2 May 2019.

As police spoke to the occupants of the vehicle (who were outside the car), it is alleged the woman got into the driver's seat of the Toyota and reversed away from officers. It is alleged she drove into a marked police sedan causing damage to its front right panel before crashing into the rear of another vehicle, a white Nissan Pulsar.

It is further alleged the woman failed to stop for police and continued to drive in a reckless manner along Riseley Street, Booragoon. It is also alleged during the incident the Toyota Corolla collided with a grey Subaru Liberty at the intersection of Riseley Street and Leach Highway in Booragoon and she woman continued east along Leach Highway until the Toyota Corolla collided with another vehicle, a grey Kia Cerato sedan at the intersection Leach Highway and Moolyeen Road, Brentwood.

It is alleged the Toyota Corolla driven by the woman came to a stop after crashing into the median island and damaging the car's front end. She was apprehended by police and taken into custody.

The 22-year-old woman from Kensington has been charged with:-

• No Authority to Drive;

• Stealing;

• Steal Motor Vehicle;

• Reckless driving to escape pursuit by police;

• Driver of a vehicle failed to comply with a direction to stop (circumstance of aggravation);

• Driver fail to stop - property damage; and

• Escaping from Lawful Custody.

She is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, 6 May 2019.
