Expanding services available at Neighbourhood Houses

Elise Archer, Attorney-General

As Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, I am very pleased to have initiated the appointment of Neighbourhood House Managers and Coordinators as a new class of Commissioners for Declarations.

As a result of this appointment, anyone holding these positions will be able to undertake the role of a Commissioner for Declarations and provide the associated duties, such as witnessing Statutory Declarations, certifying copies of an original document and witnessing signatures to documents.

Many Tasmanians interact with Neighbourhood Houses and utilise their services on a regular basis, serving as a key place of support for many Tasmanians, particularly some of the most vulnerable in our community.

Neighbourhood Houses provide an invaluable service to the Tasmanian community. This change will appropriately recognise the important role they play, by further expanding the range of services they are able to provide to local communities.
