Expert Mechanism on Right to Development to discuss indigenous rights

The Expert Mechanism on the Right to Development will hold its 6th session from 31 October to 2 November 2022, in a hybrid modality in Room XX, Palais des Nations, Geneva and on Zoom, with meetings that will be webcast live.

At this session, the Expert Mechanism will hold a general debate with Member States and other stakeholders. It will hold a coordination meeting with the Chair-Rapporteur of the Working Group on the Right to Development and the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Development and also engage in a dialogue with members of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples to exchange good practices.

It will also hold a dialogue with civil society to support the right to development and dedicate one meeting to discuss issues pertaining to Least Developed Countries and the right to development.

During the session, the members of the Expert Mechanism will continue discussing its Commentary to Article 1(1) of the Declaration. They will also consider its thematic study on Inequalities and Social Protection Systems in Operationalizing the Right to Development.
