Griffith City Library invites the community to discover their family history this August, with two free online events celebrating Family History Month.
Throughout August, the Library will host live streamed webinars presented by the State Library of NSW, giving participants the opportunity to build their family history research skills and learn how to preserve treasured family collections.
Whether you're just beginning your genealogy journey or have years of experience tracing your family tree, the sessions are designed to provide practical tips and expert guidance.
The first session, Introduction to Ancestry Library Edition, will be held on Wednesday, 12 August from 10.30am to 11.30am. This beginner-friendly webinar will demonstrate how to search, access and make the most of genealogical records using Ancestry Library Edition.
The second session, Caring for your Family Collection, will take place on Monday, 31 August from 10am to 11am. Participants will learn best practice techniques for preserving photographs, documents and other family history treasures to ensure they can be enjoyed for generations to come.
Both sessions will be livestreamed in the Griffith City Library theatrette, with a complimentary morning tea provided.
In addition to the Family History Month events, the Library's dedicated local history volunteers are available every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to assist visitors with local history and family history enquiries.
