Explore Nature, History & Winter Sports on CA Plains During Spring Break

The National Battlefields Commission

From February 25 to March 18, the Plains of Abraham welcome children and their parents to enjoy this piece of nature in the city and plunge into history during spring break. Shoot, Score!, a new treasure hunt this year, is an interactive adventure to help families discover the winter sports of the past and present. Using a web app on a smartphone, this activity leads children from ages 6 to 12 on the trail of a missing good luck charm. Perhaps they will join the long line of champions who have walked the grounds of the Plains!

Everyone can have fun on the sledding hills behind the Plains of Abraham Museum. Visitors can also use the cross-country ski trails, walking and snowshoeing trails, and the Plains of Abraham Skating Rink to take advantage of the winter season and get some exercise. Access to these facilities is free, and equipment can be rented ($) at the Plains of Abraham Museum (snow carpets) and the skaters' chalet (skis, skates, and snowshoes). The Joan of Arc Garden, illuminated at dusk, is the site of a warming station with seats and a fireplace to create a welcoming space where visitors can take a break.

At the Plains of Abraham Museum, ticket prices are also on spring break: entry is free for visitors aged 17 years and younger. They can face the challenge of a trivia quiz that will test their ability to defend the colony while guiding them through the Battles 1759-1760, and Identities exhibitions. The Aeria exhibition will introduce them to eight characters linked to the Plains through sculptures created by Jérôme Trudelle and a tablet-based app.
