Face Shield UB receives Spanish certification

The Face Shield UB, created by digital fabrication technologies and designed by the Barcelona Group D…, formed by the teaching staff of the bachelor's degree of Design of the UB, received the certification for its use by the National Institute for Safety and Health at Work in Spain (INSST), a UN notified body.

This face shield has been designed to be the simplest one in the market and at a low fabrication cost. The fabrication technology of this model is the laser cutting, which makes it available to everyone, since it is economic and fast. The area on top guarantees a proper air flow, avoiding blear, and its material is 0.75 mm thick PETG, which makes it hard to get scratches. These features make this protecting mask one of the top options to face the current and other future pandemics, since it can reach many countries without many resources and new application fields of the medical, healthcare, and other sectors.

This individual protection equipment has been carried out as part of the CAR3D project, funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT Health) and managed by the University of Barcelona through the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation (FBG).
