- Family law specialist Nicole Croft appointed as a Family Court of WA Magistrate
- Appointee brings extensive family law litigation experience to the position
Experienced barrister and solicitor Nicole Croft has been appointed a Magistrate of the Magistrates Court of Western Australia.
She will preside over proceedings in the Family Court of WA, filling a vacancy left by an outgoing Magistrate, and begins her new role on 1 July.
Since being admitted to practice in 2005, Ms Croft has worked at private legal firms where she specialised in all areas of family law.
She joins the judiciary after having served as a director of one firm for more than 13 years.
During this period, Ms Croft managed a significant file load, assisted other lawyers with their matters and helped run day-to-day operations of the firm. She also completed a Master of Laws (Applied Law) majoring in Family Law.
Ms Croft provided legal representation across the family law spectrum including in financial, child-related, divorce, property, adoption, surrogacy, and child support matters.
She regularly appeared in court as counsel and an instructing solicitor at trials and hearings, acted in Legal Aid WA cases as an independent children's lawyer, and represented clients in mediation.
Ms Croft was recognised in the Doyle's Guide multiple times as a leading and recommended family and divorce lawyer for WA and a pre-eminent lawyer in parenting and child custody matters.
She is also a former president of the Family Law Practitioners' Association of WA.

"Ms Croft's deep knowledge of the family law system and distinguished service over two decades in private practice augur well for her seamless transition to the Magistrate's bench."
