Fatal Motorcycle Crash Trowutta Road, Scotchtown

Approximately 2.45pm on Sunday 14th February 2021 emergency services received a call to attend a serious single vehicle crash on Trowutta Road, Scotchtown. The crash was attended by Tasmania Police, Smithton State Emergency Services and Tasmania Ambulance Service.

Sadly a 55 year old Smithton man died at the scene. The accident occurred when the 55 year old male was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle on Trowutta Road towards Smithton with a group other motorcyclist and left the road colliding with tree. There was no other persons involved in the crash.

Crash Investigation Services and Forensic Services attended the scene and conducted a full examination. Trowutta Road was closed for six hours and traffic diverted.

Anyone who may have dash cam footage of the crash is asked to contact Police on 131 444 or the Smithton Police Station.

Police offer their condolences and thoughts to the family and friends of the motorcycle rider.
