Fatal single vehicle crash at Hurstville

A man has died after a car hit a pole in Sydney's south this morning.

About 2.15am (Saturday 8 August 2020), a coupe struck a power pole on King Georges Road, Hurstville.

Officers attached to St George Police Area Command commenced CPR until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived, however a 19-year old male passenger died at the scene.

The P2 driver – a 19-year-old man – was treated for pelvic injuries before being taken to St George Hospital in a serious condition.

A backseat passenger–a man also aged 19–was transferred to St George Hospital with knee and foot injures. He is reported to be in a stable condition.

Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit were called and have commenced inquiries.

Police will be investigating whether speed was a factor.

King Georges Road, Hurstville, between Hillcrest Avenue and Woniora Road remains closed in both directions.
