NT Government

The Territory Labor Government has welcomed the Federal Budget - a budget that invests in strengthening and diversifying the Territory's economy, delivers more infrastructure across our regions and invests in reducing the cost of living.

Tonight we have seen the Federal Government back our plan, with investments including $2.5 billion towards key infrastructure projects, along with more housing, investments in our remote communities, and more places for Territorians at university.

Federal Government investment will begin rolling out from now, including:

$1.5 billion in planned equity to support the construction of common user marine infrastructure within the Middle Arm Sustainable Development Precinct, providing a pathway to a decarbonised economy by helping emerging clean energy industries. Funding will start to roll out in accordance with agreements to be negotiated with the Federal Government;$440 million in planned equity to support the development of regional logistic hubs;$350 million of additional funding to continue the work of sealing the Tanami and Central Arnhem Roads;$332 million towards the NT Strategic Roads Package, which includes $132 million to upgrade and seal the Mereenie Loop Road;$120 million for the Central Australia Plan;$319 million towards delivering the Darwin Regional Water Supply;More affordable housing through the housing accord, as well as $100 million towards housing and essential infrastructure in Homelands and additional $110 million towards our Remote Housing Program; and$29 million to fund 831 new Commonwealth supported places for students in 2023 and 2024.

The Territory Government is looking forward to delivering these projects in partnership with the Federal Government and continuing to build infrastructure that will not only sustain the Territory we have today, but enhance it as a location of choice for private industry to invest and develop.
