Community Grants Program 2024

The Federation Council 2024/2025 Community Grants Program is set to open on Monday 19th January 2026 with funds available to help local community groups, organisations and clubs to deliver a range of community projects and events.

Federation Council Mayor, Cr Cheryl Cook is encouraging not-for-profit groups and organizations to apply for a share in $43,000 of funding for this year's Community Grants Program, with individual grants of up to $5,000 now available per applicant.

"The Community Grants Program is an initiative aiming to empower groups to develop ideas, projects and events that can contribute to the vibrancy and connected community of Federation Council," Mayor Cook said.

"We see this as a way to bring forward new ideas and help to develop existing projects to a new height. The grants program is a community focused initiative that gives Federation organisations a way of involving the wider community, their participation in local activities and championing projects that have a strong economic and social impact."

Eligible applicants can apply for grant funding for one-off projects through one of the nine focus areas:

  • Arts And Culture;
  • Events & Tourism;
  • Community Work and Welfare;
  • Skill Development and Learning;
  • Health Promotion;
  • Accessibility and Inclusion;
  • Young People;
  • Senior Residence; and
  • Children and Families.

Mayor Cook said Council has a very informative guidelines document available to all residents and organisations, that can assist with ensuring your application and initiatives are eligible for funding, available through Council's website.

"Council encourages all groups wishing to apply to check Council's corporate website for the guidelines to ensure Council can assist as many groups as possible bring new ideas to fruition for the region," she said.

"If you are an eligible group and you have a great idea that can benefit the wider community, submit your initiative through the Community Grants Program via our online form by 4pm Monday 16 March, 2026."

Applications recommended for approval will be considered and announced to successful groups following the April Ordinary Council meeting.

From 2026-27, the Community Grants Program will be open for a two-month period from July and close September each year, to enable completion of assessment and administration prior to the end of the calendar year.
