FedNor Invests $1.3M to Support Indigenous in NE Ontario

Targeted investments by FedNor in Northern Ontario municipalities, First Nations communities, and organizations are helping to create jobs, growth, and build more resilient communities in the region. These initiatives help to support diverse economic development and strong, independent communities that are safe and accessible to all Canadians..

Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor.announced FedNor investments totalling $1,356,398 for five projects located in municipalities and Indigenous communities in Northeastern Ontario.

The FedNor funding is being provided through the Northern Ontario Development Program (NODP) and its Community Investment Initiative for Northern Ontario (CIINO), as well as the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF). The projects supported will help resilient communities grow, revitalize cultural spaces, and strengthen the economy while creating opportunities for continued future growth. This will be accomplished by redesigning and upgrading outdoor spaces, investing in sustainable agri-food technology, and by enabling the development and execution of strategic economic planning initiatives. This investment is expected to create close to 50 full-time jobs.
