Festive Weekend Activities Set To Light Up Ararat City

Ararat Rural City Council is encouraging residents to get out and enjoy a packed program of festive activities happening across Ararat this weekend, including Carols by Candlelight, late night shopping, and the launch of Skate into Summer.

Friday night will see families and friends gather at Alexandra Gardens for Carols by Candlelight, capped off with a fireworks display to celebrate the start of the festive season.

Local businesses will support the occasion through late night trading in Ararat, giving residents extra time to pick up Christmas gifts, meet up with friends, and enjoy the atmosphere in the CBD.

Council's new Skate into Summer program will also roll out from Friday afternoon, kicking off with food trucks, music, and a live broadcast by MIXX FM (from 10am-1pm) from the front of the Ararat Town Hall.

A $1,500 voucher is up for grabs thanks to the Greater Ararat Business Network (GABN) and its members, and the winner will be announced on Friday afternoon.

On Saturday evening, an 18+ Skate into Summer session will offer adults the chance to enjoy the space with a live band and social skating under lights.

Mayor Cr Bob Sanders said the weekend's activities were a great opportunity for people to connect and support local traders in the lead up to Christmas. "This is a fantastic chance for our community to come together, enjoy some Christmas spirit, and back our local businesses at the same time," Cr Sanders said. "Whether you are singing carols by the lake, picking up a few presents in town, or having a skate with friends, there is something for everyone this weekend."
