From today, thousands more Western Australians can get vaccinated at any of the three State-run community vaccination clinics.
People aged 50 and over can now roll up their sleeves to get protected against COVID-19.
Anyone 50 years and over is eligible to book in and receive the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccination from State-run community vaccination clinics from today or from a participating GP clinic from May 17, 2021.
The eligibility criteria has expanded to anyone aged 50 and over following the rollout of the National Cabinet's updated vaccination clinic.
The State-run metropolitan community clinics are located at the Claremont Showgrounds, Kwinana Supa Centre and near Perth Airport at 2 George Wiencke Drive and are open between 8.30am and 3.30pm, seven days a week.
A fourth community vaccination clinic is scheduled to open later this month in Joondalup.
Vaccination bookings are essential and can be made on 13 COVID (13 268 43) via a dedicated call centre.
In regional WA, hospital-based vaccination clinics are also offering vaccinations in the Goldfields, Great Southern, Kimberley, Mid-West, Pilbara, South-West and Wheatbelt in addition to a number of local GP clinics. Regional hospital-based vaccination clinics can be booked via 13 COVID.
Anyone from regional WA who plans to travel to Perth and is eligible for vaccination due to their work or age can make a vaccination appointment but they will need to return to the metropolitan area within the recommended timeframe for the second dose.
COVID vaccines can also be accessed via GPs, GP respiratory clinics and Aboriginal Medical Services located throughout regional and metropolitan WA.
AstraZeneca remains the recommended vaccine for those aged 50 and over with Pfizer for those aged under 50.
All community vaccination clinics will be delivering the AstraZeneca vaccine.
As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:
"Today I've rolled up for WA and got my COVID-19 vaccination.
"As I've said all along, when my turn comes up I won't hesitate to get the vaccine.
"This is ultra-important because the more people who get vaccinated, the more we protect our families, friends and community.
"As more community clinics come online, vaccination rates across the State continue to be boosted which offers us more protection against the threat of COVID-19.
"The State Government is also continuing to focus on vaccinating priority groups such as frontline healthcare, quarantine, border, high-risk and critical workers, so we remain on the front foot in tackling this pandemic."
As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:
"We now have more than 400 people in various teams of staff working on WA's COVID vaccination program.
"So far, scores of Western Australians have been vaccinated - the establishment of these State-run community vaccination clinics means many more people can easily get vaccinated.
"With the Kwinana clinic opening today and Joondalup later this month, it's a further opportunity for people to roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated.
"To ensure you get your vaccination, please don't just turn up - it's essential you make a booking, so vaccination staff can co-ordinate appropriately."
