Outstanding contributions to environment and community recognised.
Environmental rehabilitation, conservation initiatives and regional community programs are among the 15 projects shortlisted for the 2025 Resources Sector Awards for Excellence.
Hosted by the Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration (DMPE), the program features the Golden Gecko Award for Environmental Excellence and the Community Partnership Award.
The Golden Gecko Award recognises leading practices and innovation in environmental management, while providing a platform for government, industry and the community to share experiences. This year the award marks 33 years, with 11 shortlisted projects. Read more about the nominees and their projects .
The Community Partnership Award recognises outstanding partnerships between the WA resources sector and local communities that deliver lasting benefits, showcase leadership and promote responsible development. Read more about the four projects that are eligible for the Community Partnership Award .
"I congratulate the finalists for their outstanding contributions to regional communities and dedication to environmentally sustainable development across Western Australia's resources sector," said Director General DMPE Chris Shaw.
"Since its inception in 1992, the Resources Sector Awards have honoured outstanding achievements in environmental management and community partnerships, and this year the quality of submissions has raised the bar even higher.
"I look forward to learning more about the innovative projects and practical solutions being showcased at this year's event."
The recipients of an award will be announced at an awards ceremony on 30 October 2025.
