Multiple charges have been laid against a driver, including one for possession of a firearm following a police response to a report of a hit and run crash at Inala yesterday, 23 September.
Around 8.30am police were called to a two-vehicle non-injury traffic crash on the corner of Centaurus Street and Octans Street.
On arrival, it was confirmed that one of the drivers had allegedly abandoned the grey Toyota Landcruiser Prado he was driving and fled the scene.
He was located nearby and arrested.
Inquiries identified the Prado had been stolen from Fig Tree Pocket in August and the vehicle was subsequently searched.
It will be alleged that officers found a shortened .22 calibre rifle containing a round, dangerous drugs, drug utensils, and stolen registration plates.
A 37-year-old Newmarket man has been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a short firearm in public, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, authority required to possess explosives, supplying dangerous drugs, and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.
He is due to appear at Richland Magistrates Court today, 24 September.
