First Look: $265M Port Macquarie Hospital Revamp

NSW Gov

A new multi-storey inpatient unit will be the centrepiece of the Port Macquarie Base Hospital upgrade project, with site plans released today for the community to get their first look at their local hospital redevelopment upgrade.

The Minns Labor Government is investing $265 million in the Port Macquarie Hospital upgrade, which will deliver enhanced health services and contemporary health facilities for communities across the Mid North Coast.

Today, the master plan and concept design were released outlining the proposed layout for the hospital's expanded and upgraded health facilities, which will deliver new and upgraded patient accommodation to support high quality health care and future growth.

Key features include a new four-storey inpatient unit building, an expansion of the Emergency Department, and fit out of new Maternity and Neonatal Units. Essential upgrades to the mechanical systems across existing hospital buildings will also be delivered.

Extensive consultation with clinicians has been carried out to inform the master plan and concept design and ensure the upgraded health facilities reflects future clinical needs.

Staff, the local community and health partners are being encouraged to have their say and provide feedback on the proposed designs to help shape and inform planning for the hospital upgrade. A series of public information sessions will be held in March where members of the local community can meet the project team, ask questions and provide feedback:
