Police have arrested five teens following a series of armed robberies across metropolitan Melbourne today.
Officers were first called to reports up to five males allegedly wearing balaclavas and armed with machetes entered a supermarket on Golden Banksia Drive on 12.20pm.
Police will allege the group stole cash and cigarettes before fleeing in a silver Subaru Forester.
The same group are then alleged to have entered a supermarket at the corner of Pink Bill and Timbertop boulevards about 12.30pm.
They stole cigarettes before fleeing.
Police were later called to a supermarket on Gilbert Road in Preston about 1.25pm.
They allegedly threatened staff, but it is not known what was stolen at this stage.
The group of teens then attended a supermarket on McDonalds Road in Epping about 1.50pm.
It's alleged they threatened staff, but it is not known what was stolen at this stage.
Officers spotted the Subaru Forester in Wollert and initiated a pursuit.
The vehicle was followed through the suburbs of Epping, Thomastown, Bundoora, Greensborough, Watsonia, Rosanna and Heidelberg, before it collided with two vehicles at the intersection of Manningham and Bulleen roads in Bulleen.
The five occupants of the offending vehicle, a 15-year-old and two 16-year-old boys from the Greater Dandenong area, 16-year-old boy from the Cardinia area and 17-year-old boy from the Casey area, fled on foot but were arrested nearby.
They are currently being interviewed.
There were no physical injuries in any of the incidents.
