Thank you for providing valuable input on our Research Integrity functions, namely the operations of the Office of Research Integrity (ORI), Institutional Review Board (IRB), Office of Attending Veterinarian (OAV) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
From the survey responses, we learned that you are satisfied with the teams in these offices, especially their services, professionalism, resources and collaborative approaches. We also learned that we need to revisit some of our processes to improve standardization and address weaknesses in our RCR In-person Training.
In response to the survey, we are making some changes:
- ORI and IRB are standardizing review checklists and feedback templates to ensure more consistent processes when evaluating protocols and returning comments to investigators.
- The IACUC will be updating the Cayuse protocol form to allow investigators to adopt IACUC-approved procedural descriptions (e.g., surgical and non-surgical procedural descriptions), as well as indicate adherence to IACUC-approved policies (e.g., aseptic surgical preparation, etc.) to eliminate redundancy if study teams follow these procedural descriptions/policies.
- We will be eliminating the RCR In-person Training requirement effective August 1. CITI RCR training requirements will remain in place. We will collaborate with campus partners to identify effective ways to offer RCR training to our community.
We appreciate your feedback in making our Research Integrity processes stronger. We plan to repeat the survey again next year to determine the impact of these changes.
