A 'Question Time'-style event, organised by Lancaster University, to shape Lancashire's own future, is all set to take place on December 9.
Members of the local community are invited to take part in what is being billed as 'a dynamic evening of dialogue' on the future of devolution at the event hosted by leaders of the University's School of Global Affairs, Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
This will be an interactive forum bringing together key stakeholders - including local government leaders, policy experts, community advocates, and academics - to explore what it means to shift power and funding to regional areas.
The forum will explore both the opportunities and the challenges of giving Lancashire more control over decisions that affect the community.
Audience members will play an active role, posing questions directly to the panel and shaping the conversation around devolved policy areas and democratic accountability.
With guided discussions, the event promises rigorous analysis, diverse perspectives, and meaningful engagement.
This is an opportunity for students, policymakers and concerned citizens to be part of the conversation on how Lancashire can shape its own future.
Participants can expect thoughtful insights and a collaborative spirit that will drive regional change.
Lecturer in Politics and Policy Dr Temidayo Eseonu, who has organised the event along with Professor of Politics and Philosophy Chris Macleod, said: "The current government's ambition to shift power to regions is important now, especially because challenges like economic inequality, climate resilience, and social cohesion require solutions tailored to local contexts.
"Lancaster University plays a role in connecting evidence to practice and facilitating dialogue among multiple stakeholders, thereby acting as a catalyst for informed decision-making and collaborative problem-solving in the region."
To take part in the event on December 9 (6pm to 8pm at Health Innovation One), please book your place on Lancaster University's School of Global Affairs website. Refreshments will be available.
