Four researchers at Karolinska Institutet are to receive a total of just over 21 million kronor in project grants from the Swedish Research Council in the fields of the humanities and social sciences. In total, nearly 473 million kronor is being allocated to 96 research projects.
The Swedish Research Council is an agency under the Ministry of Education and Sweden's largest state research funding body. The project grants in the humanities and social sciences are intended to give researchers the opportunity to freely formulate research ideas, methods and implementation for a defined research task.
The Swedish Research Council has now made its decision on project grants for 2026. Of 1,202 applications, 96 were approved, corresponding to an approval rate of 8 per cent. The grants total 472.6 million kronor for the years 2026-2030.
Four of the approved projects are led by researchers at Karolinska Institutet, who will collectively receive MSEK 21,153.
