A new permanent Head to Health adult mental health service is now open in Mount Gambier, providing free access to quality mental health care for people living in the region.
Mount Gambier Head to Health provides a safe and welcoming place for adults to access mental health information, services and supports delivered by trained professionals. Services include immediate support for people in distress, and short to medium term care for people with moderate to severe mental health needs.
People can access this new service by visiting the centre at Unit 7/165 Commercial Street East, Mount Gambier, or making a free call to Head to Health on 1800 595 212. No GP referral or appointment is needed.
Mount Gambier Head to Health is fully funded by the Australian Government. It was commissioned by Country South Australia Primary Health Network and is operated by FocusOne Health.
Interpreting services are also available through the Australian Government's recent investment in Translating and Interpreting Services.
Consistent with the National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement, the Commonwealth is working with the South Australian Government to expand the Head to Health adult mental health services network, with additional services expected to open in Mount Barker, Northern Adelaide, and Port Pirie in 2024.
