The Freo Farmers Market will continue to call Bruce Lee Reserve in Beaconsfield home for at least the next three years.
The market operator has been given future certainty with the signing of a new sponsorship agreement with the City of Fremantle.
The market is held every Sunday from 8am to 12pm and is renowned for being plastic-free. It has live music, children's activities and more than 65 stallholders selling everything from ready-to-eat food and fresh produce to clothing and artisan gifts.
Director of City Business Matt Hammond said the City was pleased to continue its support for the much-loved community event.
"As part of the agreement, the City is subsidising a portion of the standard venue hire fees.
"We know the Freo Farmers Market means a lot to the surrounding community. This was reinforced during the year when the market was temporarily relocated to other venues after a wastewater incident put the reserve out of action for a few months.
"The support being provided by the City means the markets can remain accessible and affordable for customers and stallholders," Mr Hammond said.
The Freo Farmers Market has been a much-loved part of Fremantle since 2005. After operating for many years at Fremantle College, the market relocated to Bruce Lee Reserve in 2023 under an original three-year funding agreement.
Market Manager Kylie Wheatley said she's looking forward to growing the market-going community even more.
"It's an absolute privilege to work with WA farmers, small producers, foodies and local artisans every Sunday. The City of Fremantle has been instrumental in providing a space for community that allows for business incubation and healthy lifestyle choices for Fremantle and surrounds.
"For me, this year marks 21 years of running markets in Freo and 10 years at the helm of the Freo Farmers Market. My passion for Freo and the people who call it home has never diminished, and I'm very excited about the next three years," Ms Wheatley said.
The agreement is effective immediately.
