Rockhampton Regional Council is calling on applications for Round 1 of its 'new look' Community Assistance Program (CAP) which opens 1 September 2022.
Communities and Heritage Councillor Drew Wickerson said Council has recently reviewed the CAP program to better support community groups who rely on this program to provide funding toward their events or initiatives.
"Over the past year, we have thoroughly reviewed the CAP to make sure it is fit for purpose and in doing so, we have identified and implemented some changes," Cr Wickerson said.
"Whilst the intent of the program remains the same, we now have more clarification around the decision-making responsibility and assessment criteria which will ultimately improve the effectiveness of the program.
"At its heart, this funding program is still about supporting projects and initiatives that really benefit our community, and it's something we're very proud to deliver."
Water and Environmental Sustainability Councillor Donna Kirkland is encouraging groups to apply for the Environment and Sustainability category.
"This category is designed to support projects that protect, maintain, and enhance our natural environment while strengthening our community's capacity to live sustainably," Cr Kirkland said.
"Over the past few years, we have been able to support some wonderful initiatives, and help our community put sustainability into action."
Council will be holding an information session for community groups and organisations interested in the CAP program on Thursday 15 September 2022 at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre Auditorium commencing at 4.00pm.
A new CAP mailing list has also been established to help community organisations stay up to date with local grant opportunities.
