Bland Shire Council has welcomed successful funding through the Australian Government's Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program to support restoration works at Tallimba Memorial Park.

The project has received $8,386 in funding from the Department of Veterans' Affairs to assist with restoration and beautification works at the memorial site, which honours local servicemen and women.

The restoration project will include refurbishment of the central monument, restoration of plaques and inscriptions, regilding of names, improvements to the memorial entrance and landscaping works featuring plantings synonymous with remembrance, including rosemary and Lone Pine trees.

Mayor Brian Monaghan said the project was an important investment in preserving the history and sacrifices of local veterans while ensuring the memorial remains a place of reflection and education for future generations.

"Tallimba Memorial Park is an important community space and a significant place of remembrance for local families and residents," Mayor Monaghan said.

"This funding will help preserve the names and stories of those who served our country and ensure the memorial continues to be a place where the community can gather to commemorate their sacrifices."

"The project came directly from conversations with the Tallimba community, who identified the restoration works as a priority during local community forums."

Council will contribute additional funding toward the project as part of its village maintenance program, bringing the total project value to more than $15,000.

Works are expected to be completed ahead of future commemorative events at the site, including Anzac Day services.

Council appreciates the support provided through the Australian Government's Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program and looks forward to working alongside the Tallimba community to deliver the restoration project.

The completed works will help preserve an important place of remembrance while creating a welcoming space for future generations to reflect on and learn about the service and sacrifice of local veterans.
