Further charges after Carlton collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have issued further charges following a fatal collision in Carlton on 11 March.

It is alleged a Volkswagen Passat collided with an Alfa Romeo on Lygon Street on 12 March just before midday.

Two pedestrians were hit by one of the vehicles as a result of the collision.

A 16-year-old Brunswick girl, who was a passenger in the Alfa Romeo, was critically injured and taken to hospital where she later died.

A 40-year-old Essendon man was today charged with culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death and other offences.

He will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 21 March.
