The provenance of food, beverages and seafood produced in the pristine Gascoyne region has been captured in the latest addition to Western Australia's Regional Food and Beverage Capability Guides.
Regional Development Minister Don Punch launched the Gascoyne Food and Beverage Guide in Carnarvon last night, which connects local suppliers with retailers, buyers, wholesalers, chefs, caters, tourism operators, regional events and consumers.
The guide will drive linkages and supply opportunities for food and beverage enterprises across the region, supporting businesses, communities and the economy.
The Gascoyne publication showcases a diverse range of businesses from the region's iconic livestock, horticulture and seafood industries, as well as emerging food, beverage, salt and value adding industries.
The visually appealing publication includes a brief overview of the product range, sales information and certification of 29 businesses from Carnarvon, Denham, Dirk Hartog Island, Exmouth and station country.
The benefits of buying local - which keeps food fresh, lasts longer, reduces food miles and supports the local economy - is also highlighted, identifying members of the State Government's 'Buy West Eat Best' program.
The valuable resource was produced by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, with the support of the Gascoyne Development Commission.
The Gascoyne edition is the seventh Regional Food and Beverage Capability Guide, alongside the Great Southern, Goldfields-Esperance, Kimberley, Peel, Wheatbelt and Central Coast sub region and the Mid-West, which is soon to be updated.

"Seafood is an integral part of the story of the Gascoyne and new innovations are helping to create the next chapter in the development of this unique region.
"The Gascoyne's high-quality oysters, prawns, scallops and crabs, as well as fish like red emperor, snapper, perch and cod are highly sought after in domestic and export markets alike."
