General Officer Announcements 9 June

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III announced today that the president has made the following nominations:

Air Force Gen. Anthony J. Cotton for appointment to the grade of general, with assignment as commander, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. Cotton is currently serving as commander, Air Force Global Strike Command, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana.

Air Force Lt. Gen. James B. Hecker for appointment to the grade of general, with assignment as commander, U.S. Air Forces in Europe; commander, U.S. Air Forces Africa; commander, Allied Air Command; and director, Joint Air Power Competence Centre, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Hecker is currently serving as commander and president, Air University, Air Education and Training Command, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.

Air Force Lt. Gen. Tony D. Bauernfeind for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with assignment as commander, Air Force Special Operations Command, Hurlburt Field, Florida. Bauernfeind is currently serving as vice commander, U.S. Special Operations Command, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
