Goat producers sought for GIRDAC

Rangeland goats

MLA is calling for applications from rangeland goat producers to fill two committee positions on the Goat Industry Research, Development and Adoption Committee (GIRDAC).

The committee is an advisory group which provides recommendations on where goat levy funds are invested in research and development (R&D) and extension and adoption (E&A) initiatives for the Australian goatmeat and livestock industry.

GIRDAC convenes virtually four times a year to review RD&A funding proposals, progress of existing projects and results of concluding projects.

It operates independently to the Goat Industry Council of Australia (GICA) as an MLA appointed and funded committee.

GIRDAC operates with a national focus and comprises commercial goat producers along with value chain, service providers and subject matter expert representatives as required.

It provides advice and endorsement relating to project management, setting R&D priorities, terms of reference development and review, appointment of service providers and review of current project progress.

Interested rangeland goat producers are encouraged to submit expressions of interest (EOIs) not exceeding two pages to MLA, addressing the following selection criteria:

  • details of experience within the goat industry, specifically rangeland goats
  • details of any experience in research, development and adoption
  • an outline of skills and experience the candidate brings to GIRDAC
  • why the candidate would like to be part of GIRDAC.
